I lived out in the country, and my nearest neighbor was at least 300 miles away. Cars would come by once in a while, but not often. I'd been home schooled my whole life cutting me off from the world. One night I just happen to hear the loudest to cars go by. I looked out my window seeing two large buses filled with lights. I tried to imagine what it would be like to ride in one, but I couldn't. I went back to my couch, sat by the fire, and opened my book again. 10 minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I ignored it since no one had knocked on my door in years. The knock came again so I decided to get up and get it! I only had a dim light in my home on. It made the whole house golden. I opened the door, and three boys were standing there shivering uncontrollably. I had a blanket over my shoulders, but pulled it off and wrapped it around the youngest looking boy. "Come in please." I told them. I pulled them in and sat them down. "Sorry to barge in on you like this. Our buses broke down. We were doing a tour, and our breaks and everything froze up. You were the nearest house. Do you think we could stay here with you?" The middle boy said. "Well of course I wouldn't want you to freeze. I have a guest house in the back."
The youngest one wrapped in the blanket, still shivering. I made him hot cocoa. "Thank you miss. This is really nice of you!" "It's the least I can do!" They all started walking out to the guest house. The middle one stopped and stared at me. "Thank you so much, you're beyond something special" He said, then bent down and kissed my cheek!
Chapter 2
I didn't think about that at all that night. I just continued on my book. The next morning, I openly invited them to breakfast. "Sarah we'll only need to stay here a little while longer, just until the repair is done." The middle one said. "You know," I said, "We never really were introduced." "Sorry, I'm Taylor" Taylor was the middle one. "I'm Isaac!!" The oldest one was named Isaac. "Well, I guess I'm Zac then!" The youngest one said. "Well you're welcome to stay as long as you want! I hope it didn't get too cold out there, I never put a heater in because no one ever comes here. How old are you guys?" "I'm 21." Isaac said. "I'm 18." Taylor said. "And I'm 15." Zac told me. "I'm 19." I said back to them.
They stayed in the guest house most of the day. That night, Isaac and Zac walked down the road to find the nearest telephone. It started raining outside, so I decided to make tea for Taylor. I put my hand over the top of the cup, and with my other hand blocked the rain from my face. I ran across the fields to the guest house and opened the door. Taylor sat on his bed with the candle lit. Rain was running off my face as I shivered. He pulled the blanket off his legs and began to wrap it around me. I shut the door and came in. I handed him the tea. He set it down on the nearest table, and pulled the last corner of the blanket over me. "This should keep you warm for now. You didn't have to bring me tea. But thank you!" I nodded, "Goodnight Taylor, you sleep well, and we shall talk in the morning....!" "Sarah wait," He took my hand, "Spend the night with me?!"
Chapter 3
I stared at him, the golden glow was all over his face. He kissed me, and pulled off the blanket. That night my virginity passed away, but Isaac and Zac never came home until the middle of the night. The next morning I woke up, and found myself in his bed. Before anyone woke up, I went back to my house and made breakfast. I sat by my fire and studied with my books for hours straight. They finally came back into the house for breakfast, but Taylor didn't even say anything the whole morning.
Chapter 4
"So why are you ignoring me?" he asked. "You're ignoring me, if I'm correct?" "You aren't." He said taking my hand, "Come here." I sat down with him, and he wrapped the blanket around us. His arms were around me, and I felt so comforted, like nothing at all could go wrong.
Chapter 5
We sat wrapped in each others arms for what it seemed like to be forever. The fire, burning on my face and the blanket warming my body. I pushed him away and sat up. "What?" He asked. "I don't think we should do this." "Why?" "Uh, maybe because we don't even know each other." "Yes we do." "Taylor...., I don't want to." I looked away from him, and pulled my books out. He snatched them away, "Why not?" "Because I don't. Now give me my books back!" He shook his head, "No." "Stop being mean. Give em' back." "No." "Why are you being so stubborn? You act like a 2 year old!" "I'm not being stubborn, and maybe you should start acting more like your age and not your grandmas!" "What?" "You act older than you actually are, why do you do that?!" I pulled the books away and opened them, "I don't!!" "Do too." "Do not." "You do too." "I do not." "Yes you do!!!" "Shut up, I do not." "You always have to be right Sarah!" "I do not." "See, you always have to have the last word." "I do n-......." I caught myself before saying the rest. He smiled at me and started laughing. "What the heck are you laughing at?" I asked him. "You." "That isn't very nice!!!!" "I know." He grabbed my hand and kissed the top of it. "I'm sorry!"
Chapter 6
"Taylor, you're too weird!" He smiled, and pulled me close to him, "May I have this dance?" "What dance?" "This one." He began to dance, and sing. "Taylor you have a nice voice. I bet your band is really good!" "We do okay." "Really, what songs do you have?" "MmmBop." I laughed a him, "That isn't even a word." "Oh well, it was a nice chart topper!" "Chart topper??" I asked. "Chart topper is when the song goes to number one. Sarah, when the buses get fixed, I'm gonna take you somewhere since you don't get out very much!" I let go of him and sat down. "What? Did I say something?" He asked. "No, but the reason I never get out is because......when I was 12, my mom died. She went out one night, never came home. The next day they found her body in the snow. She'd froze to death. I don't know how I even managed things. I get food from my relatives, they send it every month. I mean things are so hard. I study for hours and hours straight, all I want to do is go to a nice college. So I work and work and work, and your the first friend I've had since I was 12." "Sarah, I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to bring it up." "Well, you didn't know, you're the only person now that does know."
Chapter 7
"I feel bad." "Well, no need to. I don't want to talk about it anymore." "Okay." "Where are your parents?" I asked him. "In Tulsa. Zac is the only one that still lives with them. We were supposed to be finishing our tour right now, but I guess that's out of the question at the moment." He stopped and looked at me for a few seconds, "I think when I go home you should come with. There are tons of places to stay, and we could be together." Taylor tucked my hair behind my ears and rested his hand on my cheek. "Yeah?" "Yeah!" He started kissing me and put his arm around my waist. "No Taylor. I already told you, I don't want to. And I can't leave here, this is my home, it wouldn't be right." He took his hands off me, and turned away. "You know what? You're so impossible. I offer you everything, and you take none of it. I could give you the world and you wouldn't accept it. Don't you like me?" I took his hand back, "Yes, I do..., a lot. But there's more to liking someone than the attraction that there is. Taylor if we were together I wouldn't want to lose you, and if I did, it wouldn't make anything easier. Both you, my mom and my dad would be gone. All I'm asking for is time, and for you to take it slower! Please!?"
Chapter 8
"Well yeah, why not? It's not like I really have a choice!" I smiled, "Thank you!" "But Sarah, how can you not be so sure when the other night you over willingly had sex with me?" "What? Over willingly? That wasn't it!" "Well it seemed like it to me." "You are the biggest jerk I have ever met!" "Yeah, well, you're the one that likes me!" "Who says?" "You just did!!" "OOOOh. Well..........who cares if I was overly willing?" I smiled, and pushed him in the shoulder. He grabbed me and hugged me, "I'm so glad our buses broke down that night, they led me to you!" I squirmed out of his arms, "No."
Chapter 9
"Sorry Sarah, I forgot. So we're starting out friends?" "Yeah, right after tonight!" I looked up at him, grabbed his hands, and we went into my bedroom. The next morning, me and Taylor started our friendship. It was hard, I felt as though there was always going to be a physical attraction between us that I couldn't resist. He came to me that night while I was studying, "Sarah, Isaac and Zac just told me that we're going to leave tomorrow. We got to get on the road and finish what we started." "Well, I guess you have to whatever you have to do. But I can't talk, I have to keep studying." "Sarah stop ignoring what's right here. It's right in front of you." He grabbed my arms firmly, "Just pay attention to what's looking at you!" The first thing I did was look at him, he was looking back. "I can't. I just can't face all my problems. It's too hard." "No, it's not Sarah. I have a terrible problem with you rejecting me. It's tough, but some things have to be dealt with. You can't let them pass you!" "Taylor stop....just......I don't want to talk about it, not the day before you leave. Right now, I need your friendship." "Sarah, right now, I need you." "So take me!" I took his hands, "Don't just leave!" He got up off the floor and I followed. "Sarah, promise me you'll never change." "I promise." I told him. We fell asleep by the fire that night, and the next morning when we woke up Isaac and Zac were sitting there on the couch sort of staring at us. "Oh." I looked at them and pulled my hair back. "Good morning Zac, Isaac!" I said. "Good morning to you too, I'm sure you had a good night." Zac said laughing a little. Taylor sat up, and woke himself. "Taylor we should really leave, we got to get home to figure out things." Isaac told him. Taylor stood up, and so did I. He looked at me for a couple seconds and then hugged me, "I'll miss you. I had a wonderful time here. Thank you!" He kissed me, and we stood there, not letting go, "I'll miss you too. I hope everything goes well with your band, I'm sure BbbMop will stay at the top of the charts too." "It's MmmBop. Are you sure you don't want to come?" "I couldn't!!" "Okay. You have a good year, and I hope you make it to whatever college you want!" He left that morning, and I never saw him again.
